BORN HULL 1898. SON OF HENRY GARRATT (1867-1943) & ELIZABETH ANN HUDSON (1871-1948), OF 275, BOULEVARD, HULL, 195, WOODCOCK STREET, HULL AND 278, HESSLE ROAD. HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES). SON OF AN ICE FACTORY LABOURER. HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND SIX SISTERS. WORKED AS A DRAPER’S ERRAND BOY.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 28565, DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. TRANSFERRED TO THE 25TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 21/03/1918. AGED 20.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL, ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL.
