BORN HULL 1890. SON OF FRANCIS THOMAS GIBLIN (1851-1824) & CATHERINE SHALLOON (1855-1899), OF 52 FRANCIS STREET, HULL. SON OF A DOCK LABOURER. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND A SISTER, ADA.

HE MARRIED AT HULL, IN 1914. HIS WIFE, KATHLEEN BARRY KAY (1891-1984 )AND CHILDREN, MONA AND ERNEST, LIVED AT 8, COUPLANDS TERRACE, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE WAS A PAINT WORKER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION ON 12/05/1917, AGED 27. COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL, FRANCE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS WIDOW, KATHLEEN.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT ST CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH, JARRATT STREET, HULL & THE SCULCOATES LANE ROLL OF HONOUR.

HIS NAME IS ALSO INSCRIBED ON THE STONE PILLAR MEMORIAL AT ST MARY’S CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 26/06/1917.
