BORN DRIFFIELD 1890. SON OF GEORGE WILLIAM GILL & MARIA PADLEY (1863-1900) OF 7, CROYDEN AVENUE, VICTOR STREET, HULL (1901 CENSUS) AND 86, WHEELER STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). SON OF A PRINTER’S COMPOSITER. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS.

HE WAS A PROFESSIONAL SOLDIER WITH THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT (1911 CENSUS)

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 16TH JANUARY 1915. SERVED WITH THE 2ND EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 03/02/1915, AGED 26. COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES, MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, GEORGE.
