BORN CURRAGH CAMP, KILDARE, IRELAND, ON 28/12/1897. ONLY SON OF CAPTAIN, WILLIAM HENRY GOLDIE (1868-1943) & EMILY ROSE BENHAM (1878-1956), OF “ASHRIELD”, OF MARLBOROUGH AVENUE, HESSLE. HIS FATHER WAS A SQUADRON LEADER IN THE EAST RIDING YEOMANRY. EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL. HE HAD ONE YOUNGER SISTER – EILEEN ROSE GOLDIE.

HENRY ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 2597, 2/1ST EAST RIDING YEOMANRY 1915. TRANSFERRED TO THE MACHINE GUN CORPS (CAVALRY). HE DIED OF WOUNDS, IN EGYPT, ON 03/12/1917, AGED 20.
HE LEFT A SISTER, EILEEN AT THIS ADDRESS. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL MEMORIAL.

HE IS BURIED AT RAMLEH WAR CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “HIS NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE”.
