Gomersall, Albert Edward

BORN HULL 1883. SON OF JOHN GOMERSALL (1842-1904) AND ELIZABETH MYALL (1844-1886). IN 1911, HE WAS WORKING AS A DOCK LABOURER, AND BOARDING WITH THE LLOYLD FAMILY, AT 3 ALMA AVENUE, WOODCOCK STREET, HULL. HE MARRIED GERTRUDE HUTLEY, AT SCULCOATES, HULL, IN SEPTEMBER 1912. WIFE GERTRUDE LIVED AT THIS ADDRESS. HE ENLISTED IN HULL AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. FORMERLY, 13/1250, 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. TRANSFERRED AND SERVED AS A CORPORAL WITH THE TYNESIDE SCOTTISH. PRESUMED TO HAVE BEEN KILLED ON 14/04/1918, AGED 35. REPORTED MISSINGIN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 20/12/1918.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE PLOGSTEERT MEMORIAL, HAINAUT, BELGIUM. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, GERTRUDE.
