Gray, Albert (aka Graham)

Born Doncaster on 16 Jun 1889. Son of Albert Edward Graham of 20, Elwis Street, Marsh Gate, Doncaster and 7 Jocks Avenue, Hotham Street, Hull.

Fiancée of Miss Martin at 63, Harrow Street, Hull (war Pension addresses).

He served under the name Gray, rather than his true surname “Graham”.

Served with the Royal Naval Reserve, on the HMT “Speeton”. Lost at sea on 31/12/1915.

His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, on 12/01/1916, with his photograph.

He is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial, Kent.

He was one of nine men missing after the trawler ‘Speeton’ hit a mine off Lowestoft. One of the others was Harold Elliot Stead also from Hull.
