HE MARRIED MARGARET ANNIE JACKSON (1887-1959), AT BRIDLINGTON, ON 24/09/1911. HIS WIFE, MARGARET AND TWO DAUGHTERS, NANCY AND MOLLIE, LIVED AT 49, SUMMERGANGS ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HIS MARRIED SISTER, MAGGIE BEATRICE FLETCHER, LIVED AT 51, SUMMERGANGS ROAD, HULL.

HE WORKED AS A GROCER AND OFF LINCENCE HOLDER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 8.5 INCHES TALL, 35-37.5 INCH CHEST, 127 LBS WEIGHT

HE ENLISTED BRIDLINGTON, ON 10/12/1915. MOBILIZED ON 29/05/1916. POSTED TO THE 11TH EYR, ON 13/03/1918. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 26/03/1918, AGED 27. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, MARGARET.

HE IS BURIED AT BAC-DU-SUD BRITISH CEMETERY, BAILLEULVAL, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “A BEAUTIFUL MEMORY LEFT BEHIND”

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 09/04/1918. HIS BROTHER ARTHUR ALSO SERVED IN FRANCE.
