BORN HULL 1893. KNOWN AS ‘FRANK’. SON OF MICHAEL GRAYSON (1863-1899) & HANNAH ELIZABETH SMITH (1866-1920), OF HIGH STREET, HULL. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS, WILLIAM AND THOMAS.

HE MARRIED AT ST CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH, ON 01/11/1913. HIS WIFE, SUSANNAH ANN DEYES, AND DAUGHTERS SUSANNAH GRAYSON AND ELSIE DEYES, LIVED AT 37, ALBEMARLE STREET, BOULEVARD, HULL. (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE WAS A BLUNDELL’S WORKER. HE JOINED THE 1/4TH EYR TERRITORIALS, ON 02/06/1909.

ENLISTED HULL, ON 06/09/1914. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EYR. ARRIVED FRANCE, ON 17/04/1915. WOUNDED IN THE CHEST WITH GUNSHOT, ON 05/08/1915. DIED OF WOUNDS ON 07/08/1915, 8.15AM, AGED 22. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 6 YEARS AND 67 DAYS. HE IS BURIED AT BAILEUL COMMUNAL CEMETERY, FRANCE.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON ST CHARLES BOROMEO, WW1 MEMORIAL, JARRATT STREET, HULL  & ST MATTHEWS CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR, BOULEVARD, HULL.

HIS WIDOW REMARRIED ON 27/12/1917.

FRANK’S DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 23RD AUGUST 1915, AND THE HULL TIMES, ON 21ST AUGUST 1915. *
HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, JOHN STANISLAUS (JACK) GRAYSON,  375193, DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 23/04/1918, AGED 19.
