Grayson, John (Jack)

BORN HULL 1899. YOUNGEST SON OF MICHAEL GRAYSON & HANNAH ELIZABETH SMITH, WHO HAD FIVE SONS. THE ADOPTED SON OF WILLIAM AND CATHERINE MABB.

HE IN ENLISTED HULL. SERVED WITH THE 19TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 23/04/1918, AGED 19. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HDM 13/05/1917, BY HIS ADOPTED PARENTS, CATHERINE AND WILLIAM MABB.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WENT TO HIS MOTHER, MRS HANNAH RHODES, BROTHER GEORGE, SISTER IN LAW SUSANNAH, AND BROTHER THOMAS.

HIS OLDER BROTHER, PRIVATE, FRANCIS (FRANK) GRAYSON, 924, 1/4TH EYR, WHO LIVED AT 37 ALBERMARLE STREET, HULL, DIED OF WOUNDS ON 07/08/1915, AGED 22. BOTH BROTHERS ARE COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL, AT ST CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH, JARRATT STREET, HULL.
