Grimmer, Jacob George

BORN GREAT YARMOUTH, 1892. SON OF JOHN GRIMMER (1854-1918) & ISABEL EMMA GRIMMER (1856-1894). HE MARRIED ELSIE MAY STOBBS (1888-1963) AT HULL IN APRIL 1916 AND LIVED AT 238, HESSLE ROAD HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). BEFORE THE WAR, HE WORKED FOR THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS IS HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. OBTAINED THE RANK OF LANCE SERGEANT IN THE 10TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. KILLED IN ACTION, IN ITALY, ON 05/07/1918, AGED 26. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, ELSIE.

BURIED AT GRANEZZA BRITISH CEMETERY, ITALY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “UNTIL THE DAY BREAKS AND SHADOWS FLEE AWAY SADLY MISSED BY ALL”
