Hall, Arthur William

Hull Pals Memorial Post. Corporal, ARTHUR WILLIAM HALL 28058. Born Hull, December 1894, Arthur was the second of seven children to Arthur Hall (1872-1959) and Amelia Kemp (1873-1945), of 7 Beech Street, Hull (War Pension address). He was brother, to Harold, Joseph, Emily, Amelia and Jessie. His Aunt and Uncles lived at 4 Central Street, Hull. Employed as a Labourer at a the Blundell’s Paint Colourers. Described as 5 foot, 10 inches tall, 38-40 inch chest, 152 lbs weight, good physical development.

He enlisted in Hull on 03/08/1916, joining the 10th East Yorkshire regiment (Hull Commercials), “B” Company. Posted to France on 27/09/1916, Arthur was wounded in the thigh, on 26/03/1918 and shipped back to Blighty to recuperate. He died of those wounds (gunshot to pelvis and bladder, both pelvis bones fractured), at Clapton Military Hospital, London, on 12th May 1918. He is buried at Western Cemetery, Spring Bank West, Hull.
