Hull Pals Memorial Post. PRIVATE ARTHUR HALL 12/747. Born in Aldershot, Arthur enlisted in Hull City Hall joining the 12th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, ‘The Sportsmen’, 3rd Hull Pals. It is possible he never even got to pull on the uniform. Arthur died in Hull Royal Infirmary on 5th February 1915 and is buried in Western Cemetery. There is little else to tell as records are incomplete and Arthur was not a soldier long enough to see the war, but he was someone’s son and someone’s best mate and that counts for more than a medal on a mantlepiece in the end.
