BORN HULL, 1895. SON OF WILLIAM AND ANNIE HALL, OF 13, LOWER UNION STREET, HULL. SON OF A DOCK LABOURER. BEFORE THE WAR HE WORKED FOR THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS, LIVING WITH HIS BROTHER WILLIAM AT 114, WALKER STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). MARRIED AT HULL IN 1915. HUSBAND OF ADA JOANNAH HALL. THEY  LIVED AT 60, JAMES STREET, HULL AND 81, ENGLISH STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE WAS MARRIED WITH ONE DAUGHTER, VERA ELIZABETH, BORN 28/06/1916.

HIS THREE BROTHERS AND SIX BROTHER IN LAWS SERVED DURING THE WAR.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 11565, 6TH EAST YORKSHIRES. HE WAS WOUNDED AT SULVA BAY, GALLIPOLI. AFTER RECOVERING HE TRANSFERRED TO THE 1ST TYNESIDE SCOTTISH. HE WON THE MILITARY MEDAL FOR BRAVERY IN A BOMBING PARTY, IN NOVEMBER 1916. HE HAD BEEN IN FRANCE FOR TEN MONTHS WHEN HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 09/04/1917, AGED 22. BURIED AT ROCLINCOURT VALLEY CEMETERY, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH ON 30/05/1917. *
