BORN HULL 1897. ONLY SON OF JOHN HENRY HALL (1856-1916) & ALICE HALL OF 16 RODNEY STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND 80, GRAFTON STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO SISTERS, ETHEL AND ALICE.

A LITHOGRAPHER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 7.5 INCHES TALL, 35.5 INCH CHEST SIZE, 120 LBS WEIGHT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 19/01/1816. SERVED IN THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY, HULL’S 125TH HEAVY BRIGADE. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 11/09/1917. DIED OF INFLUENZA, ON 25/02/1919, AGED 21, AT 25TH CASUALTY CLEARING STATION, FRANCE. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 3 YEARS AND 38 DAYS.

UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOWED MOTHER, ALICE.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT JOHNS, NEWLAND, CLOUGH ROAD, HULL.

HE IS BURIED AT DENAIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY, NORD, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “ONE OF GOD’S CHOSEN ONES”
