Hanney, John

BORN HULL 1891. ENLISTED HULL. SON OF JOHN & ELLEN HANNEY, 11 GEORGE PLACE, FINKLE STREET. ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS. HE WAS SENT TO WAKEFIELD PRISON ON 17/4/1909 FOR STEALING A PAIR OF BOOTS. HE WAS A CARPENTER BY TRADE. HE WAS KILLED ON THE 5/11/1916 ALONG WITH PRIVATES HARRY EASTMAN AND THOMAS DAVIS. THEIR BODIES WERE NOT RECOVERED AND THEY ARE COMMEMORATED AT THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING. JOHN HANNEY’S DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HDM ON 5/7/17. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS SISTER ELLEN WILSON.
