Born Sutton, Lancashire, 1877. Married Louisa Poulter at Farnborough, Surrey, on 25 Oct 1905.

Husband of Louisa at 10, Denton Street, Beverley, East Yorkshire (War Pension address). They had two children, Robert and Louise.

A professional soldier, serving as Sergeant with the 2nd EYR when war began. Transferred to CSM, 8th EYR. Killed in action, on 14/07/1916, aged 39. Buried at Carnoy Military Cemetery, France.

His army effects were left to his widow, Louisa
