RAISED BY HIS GRANDMOTHER, ANN ELIZABETH TOPHAM, AT 6 QUAKERS COURT, KIMBERLEY STREET, HULL AND 1 HEMBOROUGH BUILDINGS, NEW GEORGE STREET, HULL. HIS UNOFFICIAL WIFE WAS SARAH WYNNE, LIVING AT 62 NORTH STREET, HULL. A RULLYMAN. HIS ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS WAS 6 MIDDLE STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED IN HULL ON 23/06/1916, AGED 34 YEARS AND 90 DAYS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 10 INCHES TALL, 135 LBS WEIGHT, 36 INCH CHEST, AND GOOD PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 22/12/1916. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 25668, 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WOUNDED IN THE FACE ON 01/06/1917. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 11/04/1918, AGED 36. COMMEMORATED ON THE PLOEGSTEERT MEMORIAL, BELGIUM. HE HAD SERVED FOR 1 YEAR AND 293 DAYS. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO MRS MARIA HARE, AT 76 GOODWIN STREET, HULL. SARAH WYNNE RECEIVED HIS WAR PENSION.
