Harper, Harold Raymond

BORN BRADFORD, YORKS., 1895. SON OF ALBERT HENRY HARPER & EMILY ELLIS, ‘FERNLEIGH HOUSE’, BEECH GROVE, BEVERLEY ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). BROTHER OF ROLAND AND CLIFFORD HARPER, AND SISTER EMILY. HE SERVED AS AN OFFICER IN THE 1ST, 2ND AND 4TH WEST RIDING REGIMENT. HE DIED ON 4/11/1917, AGED 23, A WEEK BEFORE THE WAR ENDED. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL WW1 MEMORIAL.

HE IS BURIED AT RUESNES COMMUNAL CEMETERY, NORD, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “A JOYOUS AND BRAVE LIFE FULL OF PROMISE”.
