A DOCK LABOURER WHO HAD SPENT THREE TRIPS AS COAL TRIMMER, ON STEAM SHIPS. HE ENLISTED IN THE ARMY, AT HULL, ON 11/06/1917. POSTED AFTER TRAINING TO THE 2/5TH WEST RIDING REGIMENT. SHOT IN THE ABDOMEN. DIED OF WOUNDS, THE SAME DAY, ON 27/11/1917, AGED 23. HE HAD SERVED FOR 170 DAYS.
BURIED AT ROCQUIGNY-EQUANCOURT ROAD BRITISH CEMETERY, MANANCOURT, SOMME, FRANCE.
