BORN HULL 1900. SON OF WILLIAM HENRY HART AND GERTRUDE MAUD FOSTER. THE FAMILY LIVED AT WEST END COTTAGES, WEST GATE, BRIDLINGTON, AND 2, WALKER’S YARD, KIRKGATE, BRIDLINGTON. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS.

HIS HULL ARMY ADDRESS WAS 2, JOSEPH PLACE, YORK STREET, HULL. A LABOURER. HE WAS EMPLOYED BY THE BRITISH OIL AND CAKE COMPANY, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 05/06/1915, AGED 15, BUT CLAIMING TO BE 19 YEARS OLD. HE WAS 5 FOOT, 2 INCHES TALL, 120 LBS WEIGHT, 33 INCH CHEST SIZE. HE SERVED IN THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, “C” COMPANY, 9TH PLATOON. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 21/12/1915, AT ROUEN. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 04/06/1916, ALMOST A YEAR AFTER HE HAD JOINED. HIS AGE WAS 16, BUT HIS RECORDS STATE THAT THE WAS 20 YEARS OLD.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 16/7/1916.

UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO MOTHER, MRS GERTRUDE MAUD FOSTER, WHO MOVED TO BOWSERS LANE, BRANDSBURTON, EAST YORKSHIRE.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ST CHARLES BORROMEO MEMORIAL, JARRATT STREET, HULL.

HIS BROTHER, GEORGE HERBERT HART WAS ALSO KILLED IN ACTION.
