BORN HULL 26/6/1879. SON OF JAMES EDWARD HASNIP (1845-1897) & ANN SOPHIA CHAWNER (1853-1927), OF 3 BLANCHE TERRACE, CONSTABLE STREET, HULL. ONE OF TWELVE CHILDREN.

HE MARRIED AT THE HULL REGISTRY OFFICE, ON 04/02/1907. WIFE FLORENCE (ALMGILL) AND 5 CHILDREN LIVED AT 13 WYNDHAM STREET, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS). HE WAS A FORMER SOLDIER AND SHIP’S FITTER BEFORE THE WAR. DESCRIBED AS A VERY GOOD CHARACTER.

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS, ON 18/11/1914. POSTED TO EGYPT 15/12/1915. PROMOTED SERGEANT, 29/05/1915. TRANSFERRED TO FRANCE 8/03/1916. RETURNED TO ENGLAND, 14/08/1917. DISCHARGED WITH TB 3/10/1917. AWARDED THE SILVER WAR BADGE (NO:394402). DIED OF TUBERCULOSIS, ON 12/02/1919, AGED 39.

BURIED IN A CWGC GRAVE, AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY. HIS DAUGHTER, ETHEL ALSO DIED IN 1919, AGED 9.
