Hawkes, Harold Alfred

Born Hull, 1888. Son Alfred Hawkes and Priscilla Symonds (1859-1938). He had one brother, Arthur and four sisters, Emily, Nora, Elsie and Doris

Husband of Lucy Hall Hawkes (1886-1953), of 3 Frank’s Terrace, Finsbury Street, Hull  (Army address). They had one son, William Harold Hawkes (1909-1981).

Employed as a labourer, in the Engineers department for the North Eastern Railways.

Enlisted at Hull, on 02/06/1908. Embodied from 05/08/1914, to 05/11/1917. Discharged as physically unfit, but with “Very Good” Character. He had served in the army for 9 years and 157 days.

Silver Badge N0:510320. Died on 09/10/1918, aged 30. Buried at Hull Northern Cemetery.

He left £162 in his will to his widow, Lucy Hall Hawkes, at 5, The Cedars, Sidmouth Street, Hull
