BORN LEVEN 07/11/1895. SON OF ALFRED HENRY HEBB (1869-1936) & DORA METCALFE (1863-1950), OF 107, BALFOUR STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS) AND LATER 13, EDWARD AVENUE, BUCKINGHAM STREET, HULL. HE HAD ONE BROTHER AND FOUR SISTERS AND LIVED WITH HIS PARENTS. WORKED AS AN APPRENTICE SHOEMAKER, FOR MR WRIGHT, HOLDERNESS ROAD. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 3 INCHES TALL, 32-34.5 INCH CHEST.

HE JOINED THE TERRITORIALS ON 02/06/1914, A FEW WEEKS BEFORE WAR STARTED. WAS CALLED UP ON THE 7TH AUGUST 1914. TRAINED IN DARLINGTON AND NEWCASTLE. RESIDED WITH PARENTS. WENT TO FRANCE WITH THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT ON 17/04/1915 AND SURVIVED THE CARNAGE IN APRIL 1915. WORKED IN THE ARMY AS AN ASSISTANT SHOEMAKER AND WITH THE 150TH BRIGADE WIRING PARTY. WOUNDED IN THE RIGHT SHOULDER ON 18/07/1916 AND SPENT 31 DAYS IN HOSPITAL. HE LATER TRANSFERRED TO THE WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT DURING THE WAR. HE DIED OF INFLUENZA, ON 08/04/1919, AGED 23. HE HAD SPENT 4 YEARS AND 298 DAYS IN THE ARMY.
