Heseltine, Frank Richardson

BORN HULL 1885. SON OF FRANK RICHARDSON AND CHARLOTTE HESELTINE, OF HULL. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER.

HE MARRIED, ON 08/05/1910, AT ST JOHNS, HULL. HUSBAND OF  BEATRICE ELIZABETH FIRMAGE (1886-1959), AT 15, OCKLEY TERRACE, WEST PARADE, HULL AND 7, GEORGES AVENUE, SELBY STREET, HULL (War Pension and Hull Daily Mail address – 12 September 1916). THEY HAD THREE CHILDREN, ONE OF WHICH DIED IN 1914.

A DOCK LABOURER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 9.5 INCHES TALL, 159 LBS WEIGHT, 38 INCH CHEST SIZE.

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS , ON 24/11/1914. SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. DIED ON 03/09/1916, AGED 31. BURIED FRANCE.

HE WAS ACCIDENTALLY KILLED BY WOUNDS TO THE CHEST, ARM AND FACE, CAUSED BY THE PREMATURE EXPLOSION, OF A RIFLE GRENADE. TWO WITNESSES REPORTED THAT HE BLED TO DEATH IN TWO MINUTES. HE HAD BEEN IN THE ARMY FOR 1 YEAR AND 285 DAYS. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, BEATRICE MARSHALL, AT 7, GEORGES AVENUE, SELBY STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL, AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL.
