Higgins, James William

Born Hull 1875. HIGGINS, JAMES WILLIAM (43), Trimmer, FV Southward, Mercantile Marine, †01/03/1919, Son of the late Patrick and Annie Higgins, of Osbourne Street, Hull; He married Elizabeth Davidson, at Hull, in 1900. They lived at 6 Louisas Terrace St Pauls Street, Hull (1911 Census). Worked as a Labourer at the Robson Cement Works, Hull.

A widower. He re-married at Grimsby, in 1916. Husband of Martha Charlton Higgins (nee Lodge), of back 93, Duncomb Street, Grimsby. Born at Hull, Memorial: Tower Hill Memorial

On 01/03/1919 the Grimsby steam trawler SOUTHWARD (GY288) was posted missing (presumed sunk by mine) whilst returning from a Faeroes trip. 9 Crew – No survivors.
