HIS SHIP SUNK BY MINE OFF FOLKESTONE, ON 01/02/1918 AND HE DIED AT SEA AGED 26. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE CHATHAM HILL, NAVAL MEMORIAL, KENT. HE LEFT SIBLINGS, STEVEN, JOHN AND MARY. HIS BROTHER CHRISTOPHER HODSON, DIED IN OLDHAM IN 1914, AGED 20.
