BORN HULL 19/11/1900. SON OF GEORGE JOSEPH & MARY ELIZABETH HOODLESS. EDUCATED AT SCOTT STREET SCHOOL. EMPLOYED BY MESSRS, WESTMORLAND, COAL MERCHANT’S, AS AN ASSISTANT. HE ENLISTED AT COALVILLE, ON 22/02/1918. EX PRIVATE, 13006 EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. SENT TO FRANCE ON 14/08/1918. TRANSFERRED TO THE 15TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. DIED OF WOUNDS AT ROUEN HOSPITAL ON 29/08/1918. HE HAD SUSTAINED GUNSHOT WOUNDS AND HAD HIS RIGHT ARM AMPUTATED.

A SINGLE MAN AND HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS MOTHER MARY. THOMAS

HOODLASS DIED on 29/09/1918, AGED 17. HE IS LISTED IN THE DE RUVIGNEY ROLL OF HONOUR, AND IS BURIED AT ST. SEVER CEMETERY EXTENSION, ROUEN.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 04/10/1918. *
