Born Aldershot, Hampshire, 19/03/1889. Son of Thomas Herbert Hoyle and Ellen Hoyle, of 46, Great Thornton Street, Hull (War Pension address). His parents ran a cafe in Witham, Hull. He had two younger brothers, George and Charles Hoyle.
He resided at Straddlethorpe, Gilberdyke (near Brough), where he worked as a farm, horseman. He was 5 foot, 3,75 inches tall, 104 lbs weight, 32.5- 35 inch chest, brown eyes, dark hair, Good physical development, Church of England religion.
He enlisted at Beverley, on 28/03/1917. Served in the 10th East Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action, on 07/09/1918, aged 29. He had served in the army for 1 year and 114 days.
His army effects were left to his mother, Ellen. His father, also served in the war (3/6937, EYR) and died in Hull, on 27 Dec 1921, aged 49.
