BORN HULL 1881.  SON OF SARAH THOMPSON AND CHARLES HUNT, OF 62, COLLIER STREET, HULL (1901 CENSUS). BOTH PARENTS DECEASED. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER, AND TWO HALF BROTHERS, WHO ALL LIVED AT  1, ST STEPHEN’S PLACE, ST STEPHEN’S SQUARE, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS).

HE WAS A CASUAL LABOURE, LODGING AT 22, SOUTH STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND WORKING AS A PORTER AT 5, CROSS STREET, WEST STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS). DESCRIBDED AS 5 FOOT, 3.5 INCHES TALL, 33-35 INCH CHEST, 119 LBS WEIGHT, TATTOO OF ANCHOR & “R. HUNT” ON RIGHT ARM, CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGION.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 10/12/1915. CALLED UP, ON 20/03/1916. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 26/07/1916. SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 25/09/1916, AGED 35. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, SOMME, FRANCE.
