HE MARRIED MARGARET LONGTHORNE, AT THE HULL REGISTRY OFFICE, ON 21/02/1914. THEY HAD ONE DAUGHTER, ANNIE, BORN ON 31/07/1916. LIVED AT 19, CHAPEL COURT, OSBOURNE STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS) AND 2, CLIFTON TERRACE, GOODWIN STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE WORKED AS A BOATMAN. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 3.5 INCHES TALL, 35-37 INCH CHEST,

HIS ARMY ADDRESS WAS 19 CHAPEL COURT, OSBOURNE STREET, HULL. HE JOINED THE COLOURS ON 25TH FEBRUARY 1916. SERVED WITH THE 256TH ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 19TH FEBRUARY 1917. HAD BEEN IN FRANCE FOR ONLY EIGHT WEEKS WHEN HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 09/05/1917, AGED 28.

HE HAD TWO BROTHERS, ONE WOUNDED AND A BROTHER IN LAW ALSO SERVING. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, 02/06/1916.
