Hull Pals Memorial Post. PRIVATE PERCY WALTER HUNTLEY 12/1519. Born in Islington, Middlesex Percy is something of a mystery. He was in Hull at the time of enlistment and joined the 12th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, ‘The Sportsmen’, 3rd Hull Pals. This must have taken place sometime in 1915, as his regimental number suggests sometime around Spring. He served in Egypt before arriving in France in March 1916. Percy was killed in action, on the Somme, on 13th November 1916 and his body never recovered. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the missing.
