Lieutenant, Ivan Hutchinson, 5th EYR

BORN HULL 1897. SON OF HENRY WATSON HUTCHINSON & GERTRUDE BORRILL, OF 15 TRINITY ROAD, BRIDLINGTON, AND 563 , ANLABY ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). ONE OF SIX CHILDREN. EDUCATED AT HYMERS AND WORKED FOR RECKITTS.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL AND JOINED THE KING’S ROYAL RIFLES, IN 1915. HE LATER OBTAINED A COMMISSIONED ON 23/05/1918. SERVED AS A SECOND LIUTENANT, IN THE 5TH EAST YORKSHIRE CYCLIST BATTALION. HE WAS SHOT BY A SNIPER AND KILLED IN ACTION, ON 22/04/1918, AGED 21. UNMARRIED. HE LEFT £210 IN HIS WILL TO HIS FATHER, AT THIS PROBATE ADDRESS.

HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE HYMERS COLLEGE WAR MEMORIAL. ALSO COMMEMORATED ON THE ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH MEMORIAL, NEWINGTON, HULL.

HE IS BURIED AT QUEENS CEMETERY, BUCQUOY, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.
HIS BROTHERS, BOTH SECOND LIEUTENANTS, AUSTIN & STUART HUTCHINSON ALSO SERVED IN THE WAR.
