Pte, Thomas Edward Huteson, Royal Sussex Regiment

BORN HULL 1879. SON OF THOMAS KING HOLDEN (1840-1931) & FANNY CHEESEMAN (1846-1928), OF 3 BEECROFTS TERRACE, BEAN STREET. HE HAD ONE BROTHER AND FOUR SISTERS. HE MARRIED AT LINCOLNSHIRE, IN 1900. HIS WIFE, SARAH ANN GRUNDY (1876-1956), LIVED AT, 52 , WHITE STREET, HAWTHORN AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

BEFORE THE WAR HE AND WORKED FOR 19 YEARS WITH MESSRS CRAVEN & SPEEDING, ROPE MAKERS AND MR RUTHVE, ROPE MAKER AT ST ANDREWS DOCK, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN THE ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORPS. TRANSFERRED TO THE WEST SUSSEX REGIMENT. REPORTED SLIGHTLY WOUNDED ON 6TH JULY AND THEN KILLED IN ACTION, ON 06/07/1916, AGED 37. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, FRANCE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 9TH SEPTEMBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
