Jackson, Harold Willows

Harold Willows Jackson (1897-1917)

Born Hull, 1897. Only son of Caroline Maud Jackson, of 7, Linden Gardens, Tunbridge Wells, and the late John Henry Jackson (1857-1911). he had one sister, Adele.

A native of Hornsea, Yorkshire. He lived at 19 Grosvenor Terrace, New Road, Hornsea (1911 Census), where he went to school. He was educated at Red House Scholl, Marston Moor.

Living at Holly Lodge, Hornsea, when he enlisted. he was working briefly as a labourer when war began. Enlisted as a Private soldier. Commissioned to Second Lieutenant, in March 1915. promoted to First Lieutenant, in December 1915.

He served as Lieutenant, in the 4th East Yorkshire Regiment (10th Division). Wounded at Arras. Died of wounds, on 14/05/1917, aged 20.

He is buried at Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, France.

He left £1,112 in his will to his widowed mother.
