BORN HULL 1896. SON OF WILLIAM & MARIA JACKSON, OF 53 STEPNEY LANE, BEVERLEY ROAD, HULL, (1911 CENSUS ADDRESS). AN APPRENTICE SLATER, FOR MESSRS, DAWDER & TOWNSLEY, WINCOLMLEE, HULL.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, IN MAY 1915. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 201186, 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE HAD BEEN IN FRANCE FOR TWO AND HALF YEARS AND HAD JUST RETURNED FROM A FORTNIGHT’S LEAVE, TWO WEEKS AGO, WHEN HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 18/04/1918, AGED 23.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 15/05/1918. *

BURIED AT TROIS ARBRES CEMETERY, STEENWERCK. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION READS, “THEIR GLORY SHALL NOT BE BLOTTED OUT”.
