BORN HULL 1884. SON OF WILLIAM JACOBS (1848-1887) AND MARIA HERON (1850-1929) OF 143 MERSEY STREET, HULL. ONE OF NINE CHILDREN. HE MARRIED ADA BLAKELEY. THEY LIVED WITH THEIR FOUR CHILDREN AT 12 EARLES ROAD, WILMINGTON, HULL. EMPLOYED AS A GREASER. HE WAS EMPLOYED AT THE EARLES CEMENT WORKS, HULL, WHERE HE HAD BEEN FOR ELEVEN YEARS WHEN WAR BEGAN.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 27644, PRINCE OF WALE’S OWN (WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT). KILLED IN ACTION, AT PASSCHENDAELE, ON 09/10/1917, AGED 33. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAIALY MAIL, ON 26/11/1917. *

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, ADA.
