Jederin, Andrew Walker

BORN HULL 1889. ST STEPHENS. SON OF ANDERS CONRAD JEDERIN (1852-1923) & ALICE (WALKER) JEDERIN (1860-1903) – 4 GILBERT STREET, HULL. ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN, SEVERAL OF WHICH DIED IN INFANCY. HIS FATHER WAS BORN IN STOCKHOLME, SWEDEN AND WORKED AS A MERCHANT SEAMAN AND AT HULL DOCKS. ANDREW JEDERIN WAS A FORMER TRINITY HOUSE LAD AND WAS A SAILOR IN DEEP WATER SHIPS.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, IN AUGUST 1914. AND WAS KEEN TO GET TO THE FRONT. HE TRAINED AS A BOMB THROWER. HE WAS SHOT IN THE HEAD, WHILE ON SENTRY DUTY AT 11AM, ON 30/09/1915. HE DIED INSTANTLY. AGED 26. HE WAS MUCH MISSED BY HIS COMRADES.

HIS PHOTOGRAPH WAS PRINTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 13TH OCTOBER 1915, AND HIS DEATH REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 9TH OCTOBER 1915. *
HIS AUNT, MRS R HARRISON, LIVED AT 15 RIPON TERRACE, LIDDELL STREET.
A W JEDERIN IS REMEMBERED WITH JOHN WALKER JEDERIN, ON HULL’S WALKER STREET WAR MEMORIAL. HE IS ALSO RECORDED ON THE TRINITY HOUSE WW1 ROLL OF HONOUR.
