Jekyll, John Hardwick

BORN HULL 25/09/1888. SON OF JOHN JEKYLL (1848-1923) & AGNES ELLEN POLLYBLANK (1866-1940), OF 33, BALFOUR STREET, HULL WAR PENSION AND NAVAL ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS.

HE ENLISTED IN THE ROYAL MARINES (No 15999), ON 23/09/1907. ENLISTED IN THE ROYAL NAVY, ON 08/04/1911. HE WAS BASED AT CHATHAM BARRACKS (1911 CENSUS). LOST AT SEA, ON HMS “QUEEN MARY” AT THE BATTLE OF JUTLAND, ON 31/05/1916. AGED 27. COMMEMORATED ON THE PORTSMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL.

HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE BALFOUR STREET MEMORIAL.
