Born Hull 24 Mar 1876. Son of Christopher Jenkins. He resided with his sister, Annie, at 60, Flinton Street, Hessle Road, Hull. (Pension Ledger Address). Prior to war, he was Chief engineer, for the Red Cross Trawling Company, for eleven years. He was well known and very popular on Hull’s Fish Dock.
He served over three years with Minesweepers, for the Royal Naval Reserve. He was killed accidentally, at Strongnest Harbour, Orkney Isles, serving on HMS “Zaria”, on 22/09/1917, aged 41. He is buried at the Western Cemetery, Spring Bank, Hull, Yorkshire.
His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, on 23/09/1919. *
