BORN HULL 1898. SON OF HELMSLEY LAMPLOUGH JEWITT (1859-1934) AND SARAH ANN LONGDEN (1864-1910). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. EMPLOYED AS A BRASS MOULDER. HIS ARMY ADDRESS WAS 3 STRICKLAND STREET, HULL WHERE HE LIVED WITH HIS FATHER AND STEP MOTHER, ELIZABETH ELLEN. HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 16/06/1916. HIS ARMY MEDICAL RECORDS DESCRIBE HIM AS 5 FOOT, 11.5 INCHES TALL, 37 INCH CHEST, BROWN HAIR AND BROWN EYES.  POSTED TO FRANCE ON 23/08/1918. HE SERVED AS PRIVATE, 39701, 1ST BATTALION, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 25/10/1918, AGED 20.

IS BURIED AT AMERVAL COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, SOLESMES, NORD, FRANCE. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER. HE LEFT BEST  FRIEND BOB & BROTHER CHARLIE (IN BARROW).
