BORN HESSLE 1890. ELDESTSON OF JOHN JIBSON (1865-1893) & ALICE JOHNSON (1867-1901), OF GILDERDYKE, HOWDEN. BROTHER TO GEORGE AND HAROLD AND SISTER, HILDA. A FORMER FARM SERVANT. HE ENLISTED AT LOWTORPE, JOINING THE ARMY SERVICE CORPS, ON 22/07/1913, AGED 22 YEARS AND 7 MONTHS. WORKED AS A WAGONER. HIS ARMY RECORDS DESCRIBED HIM AS, 5 FOOT, 5 INCHES TALL, 134 LBS WEIGHT, 35-37 INCH CHEST SIZE, BLUE EYES, DARK BROWN HAIR, WESLEYAN RELIGION, TATTOO OF SAILORS HEAD AND WOMEN HEAD ON LEFT FOREARM AND CLASPED HANDES WITH THE WORDS “TRUE LOVE ALICE” ON HIS RIGHT FOREARM.
HE TRANSFERRED AS A DRIVER, IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILEERY, WHEN WAR BEGAN
HE MARRIED IN 1918. HIS WIFE, ANN ELIZABETH (KIRBY) JIBSON LIVED AT 256 PARK ROW, NORTHGATE, COTTINGHAM (CWGC ADDRESS). HE DIED OF PNEUMONIA ON 16/02/1919, AGED 29.
BURIED AT COTTINGHAM MUNICIPAL CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “MEMORIES OF ONE SO DEAR ARE OFT RECALLED BY A SILENT TEAR”.
