BORN HULL 1877. WIFE MARGARET ANN JICKELLS ABOVE. WAS IN HULL PRISON IN 1911. DEEP SEA FISHERMAN. LIVED AT THIS NAVAL ADDRESS. DROWNED ON 26/03/1916, AGED 39.
Khartoum, built by Cook, Welton & Gemmell, Hull in 1899 and owned at the time of her loss by Hull Steam Fishing & Ice Co. Ltd., Hull, was a British fishing vessel of 303 tons. On March 26th, 1916, Khartoum fishing was sunk by a mine from the German submarine UC-5 (Ulrich Mohrbutter), 6 miles northeast of the Longstone lightvessel. 9 persons were lost.
