Johnson, Charles

Born Londesborough, Yorkshire, 1898. Son of  Wilfred Johnson (1866–1934) and Ann Eliza Johnson, of 51, Albany Street, Hull (1911 census) and 34, Duesbury Street, Hull (War Pension address), Son of a Cycle Trader. He was the second of three sons.

He enlisted at Hull. Formerly, 19965, E. Yorkshire Regiment. Transferred to the 165th Coy., Machine Gun Corps, Killed in action, on 26/09/1916, aged 18. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.

His elder brother, Joseph Gilbert Johnson, enlisted on 31st Aug 1914 and served with the 6th East Yorkshire Regiment and deserted on 2nd April 1915.
