BORN HULL 1856. SON OF THOMAS ETHELBERT JOHNSON & MARY JOHNSON. (late East Riding, York, Royal Garrison Artillery)., attached to the 2nd/4th Bn. East Yorkshire Regiment.) EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL.

HE MARRIED IN 1883. HIS WIFE KATE ELLEN KAY AND SEVEN CHILDREN, LIVED AT 4, ALBANY STREET, HULL.

HE WORKED AS A SOLICITOR AND WASA NOTABLE PUBLIC FIGURE. HONARY LIEUTENANT COLONEL IN THE EYR TERRITORIALS. HE WAS AWARDED THE VOLUNTEER OFFICER’S DECORATION (VD) FOR HIS LONG AND MERITORIOUS SERVICE WITH THE TERRITORIALS. HE DIED AT THE STATION HOTEL, GOOLE, AGED 59.

HE LEFT £248 TO HIS WIDOW KATE ELLEN JOHNSON. THEY HAD SIX CHILDREN. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL WITH HIS PHOTO ON 1ST NOVEMBER 1915. * BURIED AT HULL NORTHERN CEMETERY. COMMEMORATED ON THE HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL MEMORIAL.
HIS SON, GUNNER, ALBERT KAY JOHNSON, WHO HAD EMIGRATED TO CANADA JOINED THE CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE ARTILLERY, AND DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 06/04/1918, AT ETAPLES, AGED 30.
