ONE OF FOUR CHILDREN. BROTHERS WILLIAM AND JOHN, SISTER’S VIOLET AND ADA. EMPLOYED AS A LABOURER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 1.5 INCHES TALL, 35-37 INCH CHEST, 110 LBS WEIGHT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 17/09/1917. TRANSFERRED TO THE RESERVES AND MOBILIZED ON 03/04/1918.  TRANSFERRED TO DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY ON 03/04/1918. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 29/05/1918. KILLED IN ACTION A MONTH LATER, ON 31/05/1918, AGED 18. COMMEMORATED ON THE SOISSONS MEMORIAL, FRANCE. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 237 DAYS.

HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE RECKITTS WW1 MEMORIAL, HULL. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, RICHARD.
