Born Brandesburton, Yorkshire. Son of John and Elizabeth Keith, of Brandesburton, Hull. He had three brothers and five married sisters, who lived in Hull. Worked as a farm Servant. Described as 5 foot, 8 inches tall, 36-38 inch chest, 132 lbs weight.
He enlisted at Beverley, on 24/01/1915, aged 19. Trained at Withernsea. Posted to France, on 03/09/1915. Served with the 1/4th east Yorkshire Regiment. Wounded on 10/07/1916 (gunshot wounds to left leg). Transferred to England. returned to France again, on 13/12/1916. Killed in action, on 23/03/1918, aged 22. He had served in the army for 3 years and 59 days.
