Kemp, Frank

Born Hull, 1892. Son of William Kemp and Ada Ellen Coulson, of 9 Ash Grove, Beverley Road, Hull. When Frank Kemp was born in 1892, his father, William, was 31 and his mother, Ada, was 31. He had four brothers. His father was a Miller’s, Cashier. Frank worked as a Fitter’s Apprentice (1911 Census).

KEMP Frank 2nd Lieutenant – 1st King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry 11th Bn. a Home based Service Reserve Battalion for training and then sent to an active service unit. Attached. 56th Bn Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) joined the Green Howard’s as a Private 1st September 1914. During March 1915, as a temporary Lieutenant, he was are transferred with seniority dated 8 February 1916; He was killed at the Battle of Pozieres Ridge 23rd July 1916 aged (cwgc) 24 years; Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial Pier and Face 11 C and 12 A. France

The Family grave is at Southgate cemetery Hornsea, East Riding of Yorkshire; In Loving Memory of William dearly loved husband of Ada Ellen Kemp died May 20th 1938 aged 37 years also Ada Elle beloved wife of the above died Sept. 11th 1945 aged 85 years reunited also of Second Lieutenant Frank Kemp Killed in Action July 23rd 1916 aged 24 years.
