FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 25226 EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 15/10/1916. TRANSFERRED TO THE 10TH YORK AND LANCASTER REGIMENT. HE DIED OF ACUTE  NEPHRITIS (KIDNEY FAILURE), WHICH DEVELOPED INTO BRONCHO-PNEUMONIA, ON 22/03/1917, AGED 39. HIS CONDITION HAD BEEN AGGRAVATED BY ACTIVE SERVICE.

HE LEFT A WIDOW AND THREE CHILDREN. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL, ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL.
