Kidd, Roger Leslie

BORN HULL 1897. SON OF LESLIE KIDD (1868-1924) AND MARY ELIZABETH KNOWLES, AT 58, BLENHEIM STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. EMPLOYED AS A CLERK.

ENLISTED HULL. ONE OF THE ORIGINAL HULL PALS. HE SERVED WITH THE 10TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT (HULL COMMERCIALS). HE DIED OF WOUNDS AT THE SOMME, ON 16/08/1916, AGED 19. BURIED IN FRANCE, AT MERVILLE COMMUNAL CEMETERY. HIS NAME WAS LISTED ON THE BLENHEIM STREET MEMORIAL – HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 01/12/1916. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER AT 70, BLENHEIM STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, TOM KIDD, 1828, 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT WAS KILLED AT YPRES, ON 03/05/1915 AND IS COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MENIN GATE MEMORIAL.
