James William Kilpatrick was born in Salford into an army family in 1892.. He was son of James and Mary Jane Kilpatrick (nee Wilson).
Lance Serjeant, James W Kilpatrick 2nd Battalion. A regular soldier. He enlisted in Howden before the war. He served as a Lance Sergeant in the East Yorkshire Regiment.
James died on Wednesday 17th February 1915, aged 22. He had barely been in France a month.
James body was never recovered/Identified and his name is Commemorated on The Menin Gate, Ypres, Belgium. Son of Mary Jane Kilpatrick, of 18 Eton Terrace, Burleigh Street, Hull (1901 Census) and 23, Queensgate, Beverley, Yorkshire, and the late Colour Serjeant J. Kilpatrick. A Single man. His army effects were left to his mother, Mary Jane.
